Since 2008, the American College of Bankruptcy has sponsored its International Bankruptcy Course for interested law schools. The College also offers all Fellows and professionals at their firms the opportunity to audit the course. This is an annual, full semester course, with weekly classes presented during the spring semester by experts on international bankruptcy. Instructors are drawn from lawyers, judges and professors in the United States and other countries. The course is presented live and by video conference at participating law schools, which vary by year. You may click here to register for the course.
Law schools and Fellows interested in participating in the Spring 2026 course should contact Course Coordinator Robert Lapowsky at RL@stevenslee.com or ACB Program Director Jenny Cudahy at jcudahy@amercol.org for more information. For the 2026 semester, the College is pleased to announce that it is offering all Fellows and their firms the opportunity to audit the course, with a deep discount for firms who sponsor the College through the Patrons and Sponsors program. The classes are presented live (via Zoom) on 13 consecutive Tuesday nights beginning January 20, 2026 from 6:40 pm ET to 8:20 pm ET. For those who are unable to attend live, recordings of each session are posted within 48 hours of the class.
The course is divided into three modules. The first module, which is presented over four sessions, provides an in-depth review of Chapter 15. The second module focuses on the EU Regulation. The third module focuses on the insolvency laws of a number of foreign countries, including Canada, Mexico, England & Wales, EU countries, China and Japan.
The College will be offering CLE-CPE credit for each session. Participants must agree to participate in online polling and surveys in order to receive credit. Click here for the state-by-state listing of CLE approvals for the 2024 course.
